Savoring the Moments {Part 1}

Few weeks ago, before the hurricane and blizzard craziness, I went food hopping in NYC with some foodie friends. Starting with lunch around noon, we relished in the savory, sweet, and salty eats of Manhattan. A few favorites from the afternoon...

We started off  lunch at The Breslin with their famous chargrilled lamb burger with feta, cumin mayo & thrice cooked chips. Yes, thrice fried chips or as we Americans call it, french fries. We also ordered poached eggs with curried lentils, yogurt & cilantro. Both were very savory, with the lamb burger, as a friend delightfully noted, perfectly cooked medium rare throughout. The salted lemon sorbet was a refreshing finish for dessert.

For a mid-afternoon snack, we stopped by Num Pang a tiny eatery with mighty tasty sandwiches. Their coconut tiger shrimp sandwich was delicious and a perfect portion for a quick grab to go. The fellow eater upstairs seems to agree, giving a hearty thumbs up.

Amorino was a pleasant stumble upon discovery, a cozy cafe with a large variety of bold flavored italian gelato. The pistachio, dark chocolate, and coffee flavors are worth a try, especially given the choice of unlimited flavors that comes with each cup or cone.

More savoring moments to come...
